Full-Time FOH Manager

Grand Lake Kitchen is a lively restaurant on Lake Merritt.  We are known for our brunch and outdoor seating, but are very busy at night now as well!  We are almost 6 years old and still growing rapidly.  Our amazing staff needs a leader to join our team of outstanding managers.  The work is challenging and rewarding!


Requirements:

- Floor management or shift lead experience.  Don't be shy - if the spirit is right and the experience is just shy, we will train you!

- If you have management experience, that's awesome - are you flexible with your knowledge?  Always willing to learn more?

- At least 2 years of serving and/or restaurant bartending experience.  You have to know what you teach!

- You are a problem solver.  It is not hard to find things that are wrong, you have to have the intuition and desire to help fix!

- Confidence - this is hard work!  You must believe in yourself and your ability to help others.

- Happiness - you are happiest from what you do best.  It's true!  Does working in restaurant make you happy?  It makes us happy!


Duties:

- Your number one job is to give great service!

- Nurture and lead our staff of employees

- Good communication is key!  You report directly to the GM and must work well in a team of managers.  Must know actively use emails and google calendar

- Ordering product

- Shifts are around 10 hours each, 5 days/week


Bonus points:

- Experience ordering - dry goods, NA beverages, etc.

- You want to own your own bar or restaurant one day

- Sommelier certification

- Maitre' D or hosting experience at a well-run place (it makes a difference!)

SERVERS AND RUNNERS

Grand Lake Kitchen is busy busy busy! We are looking for hardworking, thoughtful, outspoken individuals.

We all must do what it takes - after all, we're still a mom and pop kind of place.

Must be confident, up front, polished, warm, and drama-free

You have to be nice and love people! Our staff is used to caring for each other and the restaurant, and our customers have come to expect some nice treatment!


Preference is for open availability and ability to work 4-5 shifts/week.


SERVERS

Helps to have an open availability

Must love people and be gracious, even when it is busy!

Teamwork is crucial! must be able to give help as well as ask for it!

Working knowledge of wine and local and deli ingredients is a plus!

Must have 2 years of serving experience


RUNNERS

Jacks and Jills of all trades - come work with us!

It takes a village to keep this party going. Your job is important and ever changing!

Must have hustle, a polished presentation, and hospitable personality

Job duties not limited to: running food, taking to go orders at the cash register, doing dishes in the bar, etc.

Great attitude, fun to work with, no experience - no problem!

BARTENDERS

BARTENDERS and BARTENDER/SERVER hybrids

We are looking for experienced, hospitality based bartenders

Must have 2 years of table service experience as well as 2 years of bartending experience, preferably in a restaurant bar.

Working knowledge of spirits, fresh ingredients, classic recipes is a must

Must be speedy, clean, reliable, creative

Job duties not limited to: making drinks, waiting on a busy dining counter, bar prep, espresso making, cleaning, etc.
