By purchasing tamales, you are helping us help one of our own.  Meet Lili and Alberto Mier, aunt and uncle of dear friends of Grand Lake Kitchen. The Miers were long time owner-operators of La Canasta - Mexican Food to Take out on Buchanan and Union in San Francisco.  Since 1987, they have taken care of all walks of life - SF celebrities and neighborhood locals alike.  Alberto and LiLi enjoyed 36 years of serving their community before facing a series of daunting challenges. Alberto's Stage IV metastatic prostate cancer diagnosis led to the closure of their beloved restaurant. Additionally, a foreclosure fraud case resulted in the loss of their home. Lili's dream of starting a tamale business in the city offers them a glimmer of hope and much-needed stability. Their resilience and gratitude for the support from loyal customers and the Bay Area community shine through. Join us in supporting Lili and Alberto Mier as they navigate these trying circumstances and work towards rebuilding their lives and dreams.
